Queensland Flooding

I was all set to write up my second New York post but instead I’ve been glued to my laptop, following Twitter updates and online updates about the flooding in Queensland. It is devastating – 8 people are confirmed dead (4 of whom are children) and there are about 72 people missing… and they expect the death toll to rise, as the flood waters continue to rise. They are evacuating different areas as I type this and they are expecting the flooding to get worse over the next two days.

I have family and friends in Queensland and so far have been unable to contact them been able to contact Dad and brother, yet to hear from sister. I am sure they are fine but I won’t be able to think straight until I hear back from them. I am praying for the rain to stop and hoping with all my heart that my friends and family are okay.

This video taken in Toowoomba yesterday shows just how bad it is… flash flooding with cars being swept away. Insane.

I hate being so far away – I just want to be at home right now with my family!

Please keep everyone affected by the Queensland floods in your thoughts.

The flooding in Queesland looks devastating. Been hearing/reading about it here. Thoughts for everyone affected – and glad that you have been able to get in touch with your family.

CatSynth – It just keeps getting worse. It’s horrible, I really hope the rain stops and the flood subsides soon.

It’s crazy isn’t it? I can’t believe that it is happening and there’s such a feeling of helplessness :(

Oh Yikes – awful. Such devastation and hardship and loss and helplessness. Hope your close ones are OK.

unbelievable, horrible, terrible. i couldn’t watch the guy getting into the car–thank God he didn’t get swept away. tt was such a stupid risk to take! btw, i’m so happy tt u r enjoying canada. it’s a wonderful country:)

Lorraine – That’s the worst thing – being so far away and not being able to help, other than donating.

Rabbits’ Guy – Thanks for your concern – my family are all safe. Unfortunately, many other people weren’t as lucky, there’s a lot of grief in QLD right now. :(

Terri – I can’t believe he would risk his life to save his car – you could see it moving while he was trying to get it going – crazy stuff. Canada is fabulous, I am loving it here. :)
