Testing…testing… WOO HOO I’m back!!

So I guess it’s rather difficult to get tech support when your self-hosted blog dies in another country, which is exactly what happened just over a month ago. Well, my blog didn’t die, it was the PSU in my tower that died, taking my blog with it. After numerous emails and msn conversations with tech-savvy friends back home, my blog is finally back up and running and is now hosted on a different server, which means more stability and no more crashing!

So… what’s been happening over the past month?

I turned 25 years old on December 17 (or, as Phill kindly puts it – a quarter of a century) and celebrated by going out for dinner with friends. It was a really nice day and Phill bought me, amongst other things, an acoustic guitar, which made me very happy. I miss my piano and my violin and my music, so I have loved being able to strum the guitar and have a musical home again.

And of course, today is Christmas Day here in Canada, so MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!

Phill and I were up rather early – he made the crucial mistake of rolling over in bed at about 8:10am, so I took that opportunity to lean close to him and say, “IS IT TIME TO OPEN PRESENTS?” He was suitably unimpressed but that quickly turned into excitement when he began to wake up properly and by 8:15am we were sitting on the lounge room floor in front of our (little but cute) Christmas tree, coffee in hand, opening presents.

I was very spoilt – I got some beautiful Lush bath soaps and fizzers, some lovely presents from Mum and Dad (they sent over a parcel of presents for Christmas and my birthday – so organised!) and some earrings and other things. I picked up a present from “Santa” to me and Phill immediately got all giggly and told me to OPEN IT so I did and… out fell the latest PS3 Harry Potter game.

I looked at him quizzically, since we don’t have a PS3, and with a little concern because I had bought him one  for Christmas and I was worried this meant he had bought one… He looked back at me (still giggly) and said, “Did I guess right?”

I realised he must have guessed what I had bought him! (Damn obvious massive box under the tree!) I only managed to half-nod before he LURCHED at me from across the floor and smothered me in kisses, chanting “thank you thank you thank you!” He had correctly guessed what his remaining present under the tree was… a new Playstation 3 with the Move bundle! He’d even been bold enough (and sweet enough!) to buy me a game! We had to leave our old PS3 at home and we were really missing it and I figured it was the perfect present for him. I got him the GT5 game as well and he’s now happily setting everything up, bouncing up and down like an excited child.

After a breakfast of “breakky burritos” (which is basically tortillas with a hash brown, bacon, cheese, gooey egg and smoky BBQ sauce) I’m going to prepare a potato bake and nibblies to take to our friends’ house for Christmas dinner this afternoon. We are having a… wait for it… TURDUCKEN! They picked it up yesterday and apparently it’s huge – it feeds about 30 people and they had to measure their oven to ensure it would fit. There’s going to be about 12 of us there, so that’s a lot of meat! I’ll take my camera and get some photos of it – it’s definitely going to be interesting!

I have the next four days off work and this past week was absolutely mental, so I am looking forward to sleeping in and relaxing. I have a turkey in the fridge which I will cook on one of the four days – I’ve never cooked a turkey before but I’ve heard the secret is butter, butter and more butter!

I smell bacon so it’s time to go but MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone – I hope you had/are having a wonderful day with family and friends! May your turkey be moist and your stuffing fluffy!
