Operation Oktoberfest!
No, it’s not about drinking beer, it’s about getting healthy and losing weight! In October, Phill and I and some friends are going to celebrate Oktoberfest. One of my friends K and I decided to hire German beer wench costumes for the occasion. They match, except for the skirts – mine is red and K’s is green. Incidentally, this was the first time I’d ever visited a costume shop – they have some pretty awesome costumes! Anyway, this photo is very similar to what we’ve hired:
You can see it’s a little revealing, especially if you’ve got slightly thunderish thighs!
So I woke up this morning feeling determined. Since returning from our Europe holiday, I’ve been eating a little badly and not exercising enough and as a result, I feel gross and of course, my weight has gone up a little. Before it gets out of hand, I’m doing something about it and I figured if I had a realistic goal I would be more determined to do well, so Operation Oktoberfest was born. I have just over one month to eat healthily and exercise daily in the hopes of losing some weight and toning up in time to wear the costume for Oktoberfest.
I started my exercise regime this morning with half an hour of working out in front of the TV. When I first stumbled across TV workout programmes, I never thought I’d actually end up doing them, but they are quite good. I didn’t have all of the equipment but I still managed to keep up and yes, I felt the burn. Although, I wasn’t really sure what I was supposed to do during the ad breaks.
After the workout, I donned my joggers and went for a walk/jog, following my own route which lasts one hour. Upon returning home, I had a shower and *gasp* breakfast, which is something new for me. I guess if I want to get serious about getting healthy, I’d better eat breakfast. Apparently it’s good for you.
So who wants to join me? I’ll update on my progress once a week because, well, now that you guys know about it, there’s no way I can get out of it, right? I’ve even made a category just for Operation Oktoberfest. It’s all about accountability.
Wish me luck…

Don’t worry, I’ll be suffering right along with you. Boot camp starts next Wednesday…
(And maybe you could jog on the spot during the ad breaks?)
